Controls and settings¶
Nova follows the classic Roblox control scheme by default. Individual experiences can override any of these, so always check the game's own help or on-screen prompts.
Default controls¶
| Action | Default |
|---|---|
| Move | W A S D or arrow keys |
| Jump | Space |
| Look / aim | Mouse |
| Interact / click | Left mouse button |
| Sprint (common) | Shift |
| Camera zoom | Mouse wheel |
| Menu | Esc |
Gamepad and touch layouts depend on the experience. If a place supports gamepads, it usually shows the bindings in its own menu.
Settings¶
Platform settings are available from your account menu. In-game settings are usually in the experience's own pause or gear menu.
Common settings include:
- Graphics quality and render distance.
- Volume and music.
- Camera sensitivity and invert Y.
- Chat and notification preferences.
- Virtual Version — an optional 2012–2016 visual skin. It changes the look of the interface and era-specific content, not the game rules.
Virtual Version¶
Nova can present its interface in the style of 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, or 2016. This is called Virtual Version.
- It is a visual skin.
- It does not disable modern games, modern APIs, or newer features.
- It does not change physics, gameplay, or the place's scripts.
If a game looks different from a screenshot or video, check whether Virtual Version is set to a different year.
If the controls feel wrong¶
- Check the game's own settings; it may use a custom control scheme.
- Check whether you are in a menu or a text box (typing captures the keyboard).
- Try reloading the page.
- Try a different browser if keys or the mouse behave strangely.
If only one game is affected, it is probably the game's controls. If every game is affected, check your browser and keyboard layout.
